Barton of Woonona

Kate Herring

Charles Barton, his wife Hannah (nee Street) and their five sons and daughter Maria left their Staffordshire home and migrated to Australia in 1884. Although they arrived in Brisbane they quickly found their way to Woonona where their next child, Emily, was born in 1884. Three more sons and another daughter followed. The family became very prominent in the Woonona area.

Charles Barton (1842-1923) married Hannah Street (1845-1933) at Dudley, Worcestershire on 30 December 1867. There were 12 children born between 1868 and 1891.
