Condon of Jamberoo

Images on this page are courtesy of GS.

This collection of photographs are connected to the Condon family originally of Jamberoo. They were grouped together in a collection belonging to a descendant.

In 1833 James Condon (1801-1881) married Mary Murphy (1814-1871) and they raised a large family at Jamberoo. Many stayed in the Jamberoo area but others moved further afield so these photographs may be from various places.

The identity of many of the people is not known so please leave a message below or contact me if you recognise anyone. Any information known is noted on the captions or alongside the images.

Patrick Hill Condon, son of Patrick Condon and Margaret Clancy. Patrick was killed in action at Ypres on 24 September 1917.

The envelope that contained the last letter written by Patrick to his family before his death.

This receipt is possibly an order by Aubrey James Condon regarding a photograph of his brother Patrick Hill Condon. Patrick enlisted in the AIF in 1916 and is the only known Condon from the family to have enlisted. Patrick was killed in action on 24 September 1917 after only three months at the front.

Believed to be some members of the family of Peter Ryan

Peter Ryan 1837-1923 was married firstly to Mary Condon 1837-1894. Peter and Mary had eleven children from 1859-1879. After Mary’s death Peter married Martha Clancy 1847-1935. This photograph would be around 1900 thus it would Peter but perhaps one of his children and their family.
